Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Buda is seeking a Seasonal RN for night shifts (7pm–7am) on a 13-week contract. The role supports Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, and Critical Care units with mixed acuity and 15 beds total.

Ideal candidates have ICU experience and must be flexible to cover med/surg or IMC assignments as needed. A valid RN license and BLS are required, with benefits and a team-focused culture highlighted.

Qualifications

  • Requires degree from a recognized nursing program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Valid Registered Nurse license.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments following practice standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans; adjust as needed.
  • Create a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Manage pain to promote recovery and comfort for patients.

Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Buda

Shift/Status: Full-time, 3x12's

Schedule: Night Shift (7pm - 7am)-Seasonal 13 week contract

Main Nursing Unit

Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, Critical Care

# of beds: 15

Patient Ratios: Med Surg/Tele - 1:4/5, Progressive Care/Intermediate Care - 1:3, Intensive Care - 1:2

  • This is a mixed acuity unit. Ideal candidates must have ICU experience and must be willing to take med/surg, tele, or IMC assignments as needed by the department.

Baylor Scott & White - Buda is a full-service hospital, providing a wide network of medical expertise and resources. This facility has received recognition for its nursing professionalism, teamwork, and superiority in patient care.

Baylor Scott & White - Buda features a 15-bed Main Nursing Unit which is a blended unit with three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach in providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. The facility also offers 24/7 emergency services (an 8-bed Emergency Department) and surgical services (offering adult and pediatric surgeries).

Job Summary

As a Seasonal RN, you align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, implement care plans. Monitor patient progress is also vital. Your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment.

  • Using good judgment and clinical reasoning, conduct thorough assessments following practice standards.
  • Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly. Make adjustments as needed.
  • Creating safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
  • Managing emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.

  • A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience
  • A minimum of (1) one year's experience in the field of nursing
  • A valid Registered Nurse license
  • The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.
