Job summary

MercyOne Genesis Davenport ICU is seeking an experienced Critical Care RN to join our full-time team. This role involves 12-hour night shifts at the Davenport East location, with self-scheduling and 3 shifts per week.

You will lead patient assessments, care planning, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate holds an Associate Degree in Nursing and an Iowa RN license (IL license within a year).

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing; active Iowa RN license (and IL RN within one year).
• BLS certification by AHA; strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency; ability to work in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop and update outcome-focused care plans.
• Administer treatments, medications, and physician-ordered care; evaluate patient responses.
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary team; ensure timely documentation and handoffs.
• Supervise and coordinate care by LPNs and support staff; delegate responsibilities as needed.
• Support safety, infection control, and compliance with policies and standards.

Critical Care Registered Nurse (ICU)
Position Summary

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & Care Planning

• Complete initial patient assessments and ongoing reassessments.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized, outcome-focused care plans.
• Identify patient needs, prioritize care, and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Administer treatments, medications, and physician-ordered care.
• Evaluate patient responses and revise care plans as needed.

Care Coordination & Communication

• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Coordinate patient assignments based on acuity and staff capabilities.
• Make referrals to appropriate services, including social work, nutrition, spiritual care, and patient education.
• Communicate patient conditions, care updates, and discharge plans to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation.

Clinical Practice

• Demonstrate competency in critical care nursing practices.
• Follow patient care policies, procedures, and medication safety standards.
• Process and implement physician orders accurately.
• Utilize clinical judgment to manage complex patient care situations.
• Demonstrate proficiency with required computer systems and documentation tools.

Leadership & Teamwork

• Supervise and coordinate care provided by LPNs, patient care assistants, and other support staff.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately.
• Function effectively within a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Support efficient patient throughput and discharge planning.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all infection prevention, safety, and colleague health policies.
• Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify and address safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational regulations and standards.

Minimum QualificationsRequired

• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Active RN license in Iowa and IL RN within one year
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire (as applicable).
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Demonstrates integrity, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to MercyOne values.

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Critical Care nursing experience.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, or ability to obtain within required timeframe for telemetry units.
