Job summary

Requirements include graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, TX or Compact RN licensure, BLS/ACLS (PALS for PACU/ER), and 2–4 years of nursing experience. ER may prefer ENPC/TNCC.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Active RN licensure in Texas or Compact.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS certification required (PACU/ER). ENPC/TNCC preferred for ER.
• 2–4 years of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
• Demonstrates competencies listed on the competency validation form.
• Confirms patient identity using two identifiers and checks identification bracelet before procedures.
• Provides updates, instructions and patient education to patient and family.
• Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
• Communicates safety hazards identified in the workplace to peers and management.
• Demonstrates understanding of cultural differences.
• Participates in performance improvement processes within the hospital and department.
• Delivers nursing care to assigned patients including education, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning using the nursing process.
• Anticipates deteriorating vital signs or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
• Establishes a compassionate environment providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
• Wears proper identification while on duty.
