Job summary

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Licensure: current Texas or Compact RN license. Certifications: BLS & ACLS required; PALS for PACU/ER; ENPC/TNCC preferred for ER. Experience: 2-4 years preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• RN licensure (Texas or Compact).
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required for PACU/ER; ENPC/TNCC preferred for ER.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing infection risk.
• Demonstrates competency per validation form.
• Confirms patient identity with two identifiers and checks ID bracelet.
• Provides updates and education to patient and family.
• Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
• Communicates safety hazards to peers and management.
• Demonstrates understanding of cultural differences.
• Participates in the performance improvement process within the Hospital and department.
• Delivers nursing care to assigned patients including education, care planning, pain management and discharge planning.
• Anticipates deteriorating vital signs or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
• Establishes compassionate environment providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
• Wears proper identification on duty.
