Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced Emergency and Specialty team. You will supervise patients, assist with anesthesia, in-house labs, IV catheters, and client education while supporting DVMs.

State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred; prior veterinary experience required; strong math skills and flexible hours needed. We offer comprehensive benefits, PTO, and opportunities for CE.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside testing.

Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

Who you are:
