Qualifications

• Citizenship and English proficiency required (U.S. Citizenship; English language proficiency)
• NAs must be proficient in spoken and written English per VA policy
• Experience/education options to meet GS-3/GS-4/GS-5 prerequisites
• Assignments for entry-level NAs include close supervision at GS-3 level
• GS-4 level requires 1 year specialized experience or education with KSAs
• GS-5 level requires 1 year of higher responsibility or a 4-year degree with health-related coursework
• Annual health requirements and potential for long periods of standing/walking

Responsibilities

• Assist in full range of nursing care under RN/LPN supervision
• Perform basic diagnostic/treatment tasks and monitor patient condition
• Provide personal care, grooming, and daily living activities
• Document vital signs, care provided, and observations per policy
• Serve as a preceptor to new CNAs and support orientation
• Respond to emergent patient needs and assist with life-saving measures
• Operate equipment and support diagnostic procedures as assigned
• Maintain patient safety and environmental safety; observe and report changes
