Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME, seeks a Registered Nurse Preceptor for the Intensive Care Unit to mentor new nurses and supervise patient care.

This full-time, day-shift role requires an active RN license, BLS, ACLS, BSN, and critical care experience; CCRN is preferred and preceptor training is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license.
• BLS certificate on hire and maintained.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• BSN required.
• Critical Care experience preferred.
• Minimum of one year as staff RN in acute care hospital; CCU/ICU experience required.
• CCRN certification preferred.
• Completion of preceptor class.
• BSN degree required.

Responsibilities

• Guide, direct and supervise the nursing activities of the preceptee.
• Provide guidance and consultation on patient care and scope of practice.
• Create formal and informal learning opportunities for peers on practice issues and current research.
• Oversee the preceptee in delivering safe patient care using the nursing process.
• Communicate with physicians and care team about changes in patient condition and treatment responses.
