Job summary

Kelly Government Solutions is seeking experienced ICU nurses to join the VA Medical Center in Houston. You will provide high-level critical care, collaborate with veterans care teams, and hold a current RN license with BLS/ACLS.

The role requires at least 2 years ICU experience, recent work in ICU/critical care within the last 6 months, no employment gaps in 5 years, and passing a drug test. Scheduling includes a minimum of three 12-hour shifts per week and four weekend shifts per month.

Qualifications

• ICU/critical care nursing experience required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Unrestricted RN license from a U.S. jurisdiction.
• No visible tattoos, artificial nails, eyelashes, piercings, or gauges per VA guidelines.
• Resume shows no employment gaps in the past 5 years.
• Must pass a drug test prior to starting.

• Provide ICU/critical care nursing at VA Medical Center.
• Coordinate with VA staff to ensure coverage and quality patient care.

Position Requirements

• At least 2 years of ICU/ Critical Care Experience
• Critical care experience must be recent, within the last 6 months in a specialty such as SICU, MICU, ICU
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE or ACEN).
• Proof of unrestricted RN license from a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications required
• No visible tattoos, artificial nails, eyelashes, piercings, or gauges are permitted (per VA Quality Assurance guidelines).
• Resume must show no employment gaps in the past 5 years.
• Must pass a drug test prior to starting.

Scheduling Best Practices

• Monthly schedule opens 2nd Monday; supply your availability within 10 days.
• A minimum of three 12-hour shifts per week required (with occasional opportunities for a fourth shift).
• Four weekend shifts per month are required (could be two full weekends or any arrangement that totals four shifts). If you call out for a weekend shift, the VA will automatically assign you to work the following weekend.
• Schedules are finalized by VA staff to ensure coverage and fairness.

Compensation

• $56.36/hour plus $5.09/hour Health & Welfare (H&W) stipend - if you aren't taking benefits, we can roll the H&W into your hourly rate (up to 40 hours)
