Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float position. GA or compact licensure required. You will float across Critical Care, ED, and med-surg units, covering demanding shifts.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years ICU experience, BLS/ACLS, and strong IV, line care, and ventilator support. Night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, with weekend coverage and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care/management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Respiratory/thoracic care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
• Suctioning experience (ETT, NT)
• Isolation precautions and PPE experience
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmias management
• Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Float pool position covering Critical Care, Emergency Department, ER hold, Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown/PCU units
• Patient ratios up to 1:6 in Med-Surg and 1:2-3 in critical care settings
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Candidate must be flexible with scheduling as no block schedule requests permitted
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple hospital units as part of a float pool team
• Holiday coverage required based on major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, finalized at consideration
• No RTO during orientation week or after offer
• First-time travelers welcome
• Local candidates accepted at same rate
• Piedmont facility separation for one year before returning as traveler
• Travelers previously canceled must complete another assignment elsewhere
• Shifts and contract length are firm with no alternate schedules
• Travel pairs cannot be on same shift on same unit
