Qualifications

• The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) plays a vital role within the critical care team.
• Primary responsibility is to manage high-acuity adult patients in a multidisciplinary critical care setting.
• The ICU team provides comprehensive critical care in collaboration with various consulting specialists.
• APP works closely with critical care intensivists, ICU hospitalists, residents, fellows, and other APPs to provide direct patient care in the ICU.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, performs approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Orders laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriate and initiates treatment plans.
• Coordinates patient care with other health care team members and initiates consultation requests as needed.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health and refers to appropriate specialists/resources.
