Job summary

The Biomedical Engineer at Mount Sinai Health System is responsible for technical support of ICU and OR equipment in Open Heart Surgery suites, CSICU and related units. You will set up, maintain, repair equipment, and advise surgeons and staff on technical matters.

You will ensure electrical safety, perform preventive maintenance, coordinate with vendors, and train staff to ensure uninterrupted patient care and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in biomedical engineering or related field; higher degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of diversified experience in medical electronics with exposure to Heart/Lung and/or Balloon Pump technology or closely related training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient care monitoring equipment and related instrumentation.
• Informs Biomedical Engineering of defective equipment and participates in repair and maintenance.
• Orders necessary parts, accessories, and supply items for all related equipment.
• Coordinates with outside vendors and BIMC Engineering for maintenance, repairs, and preventive activities.
• Ensures electrical safety and documentation for regulatory compliance requirements.
• Trains other Biomedical Engineering staff for cross coverage.
