Job summary

West Virginia University Health System is seeking an Acute/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care in the ICU, guiding patient and family care from admission through discharge.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Critical Care teams, interpretation of diagnostic results, and development of individualized care plans in a high-stakes environment. Ongoing learning and leadership in clinical practice are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as RN and AP RN in West Virginia.
• BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training.
• FCCS Certification required immediately upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for patients and families in the Inpatient/Critical care phase of hospitalization.
• Collaborates with Critical Care staff to order tests or consultations as needed.
• Performs, interprets and communicates diagnostic test results.
• Communicates with Critical Care and inter-professional services regarding abnormal findings.
• Develops a comprehensive plan of care including discharge planning and referrals.
• Participates in physician and team rounds.
• Identifies unstable or complex patient care situations and initiates interventions.
