Job summary

HDR is seeking a Digital Design Specialist to join our Building Engineering Services Group in Omaha. You will collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver complete BIM documents (SD, DD, CD) and support client BIM comments across CA activities.

You will define modeling requirements, maintain discipline models, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity and standards are met.

Qualifications

• Requires a technical degree or 3 years related industry experience.
• Experience with 3D design software and document management.
• Experience with 3D coordination tools; strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project engineers and designers to evaluate and define customer objectives within project design.
• Define and develop BIM project documents (SD, DD, CD) to show design intent and specs.
• Support resolution of client BIM comments across Construction Administration activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to develop functional modeling requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and new design tools.
• Create and maintain discipline models, systems, content, and overall digital delivery output.
• Accurately model BIM elements using current 3D software with proper constraints.
• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, diagrams, and schedules within project scope and budget.
• Maintain the discipline model with project information, coordinates, scales, and sheets.
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining company standards.
• Coordinate design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination.

In the role of Digital Design Specialist, we'll count on you to:

• Collaborate with project engineers and designers to evaluate, define, and review customer objectives within the project design, maintaining technical competency in the software identified for Digital Delivery.
• Define and develop complete BIM project related construction documents to include all design documents (SD, DD, CD) to help show design intent, and project specifications.
• Support the resolution of client BIM comments across all Construction Administration (CA) activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and clients to develop functional requirements for modeling system designs and other project related requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and new emerging design tools.
• Create and maintain the discipline model, systems, content, and overall digital delivery output for that discipline
• Accurately model the BIM elements in the correct special constraints of the modeling environment, using the current 3D software
• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, diagrams, and schedules within the project scope, design schedule, and budget, using the current 3D software
• Maintain the discipline model including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, and sheets
• Assist in monitoring, improving, and maintaining company standards.
• Coordinate the design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and the 3D Coordination process.
• Assist or execute any additional Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have general engineering knowledge of either telecommunication (Horizontal/Backbone cabling and pathways) or physical electronic security systems (access control, video management system, CCTV, intrusion detection).
• Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure
• Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
• Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR
• Ability to handle multiple assignments
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must
• Excellent leadership and organization skills

Required Qualifications

• Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience
• Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure
• Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
• Experience with 3D Coordination tools
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
• Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
