Job summary

Ghafari Associates seeks an Electrical/Telecommunications Engineer to design and analyze data, telecom, fire alarm and security systems for new builds or renovations. You will produce CAD drawings, collaborate with other disciplines, and perform field measurements to ensure accurate, coordinated construction documents.

The role requires Revit proficiency, experience in data and security systems, and a related degree; RCDD is preferred. Hybrid work across multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2–6 years of related experience in data, telecommunication, fire alarm and security engineering.
• Revit proficiency required.
• RCDD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design or analyze data, telecommunications, fire alarm and security systems per applicable guidelines (BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA, NFPA 72).
• Prepare construction working drawings on CAD; provide CAD support to senior staff.
• Coordinate with all disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
• Perform field measurements and site checks; maintain project files.
• Edit project specifications with assistance; review submittals for conformance.

Job Description:

General Summary:

With direct supervision from Director, ICT + Security Group or senior staff, provide design for telecommunications, LAN, CCTV, fire alarm, access control, and wireless LAN for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes.

Essential Job Functions:

• Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze data, telecommunication, fire alarm and security systems for the design and installation, of data, telecommunications, fire alarm and security systems/networks using applicable BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA guidelines and NFPA -72.

• Prepare working drawings for construction on CAD system. Provide CAD support to more senior staff.

• Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.

• Conduct field measuring and checking at project site.

• Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.

• With assistance, edit project specifications.

• Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or related field, electronic engineering, information technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2-6 years related experience in data, telecommunication, fire alarm and security engineering field.

• Revit proficiency required.

• RCDD preferred

Additional Skills:

• Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel and MSWord, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM360
