Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an ICT and Security Intern to contribute to the Building Engineering Services Group in Omaha, NE.

You will assist with BIM-enabled designs for telecommunications, electronic security, and AV systems under the guidance of senior engineers and BIM managers. You will engage with early-career professionals through mentoring and various young professionals programs, while developing practical skills in IP networking and access control.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering techniques with BIM to design telecom networks (wired/wireless), ESS, and AV systems.
• Assist senior engineers and BIM managers in researching and designing security, AV, IP networking, video management, and access control.
• Engage with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of an ICT and Security Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures to work with Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs to design telecommunications networks (wired and wireless), Electronic Security Systems (ESS - including video and access control), and Audio Visual (AV) systems.
• Work under the guidance of senior-level engineers and BIM managers to assist them in researching and designing security systems, audio/visuals systems, IP networking, video management and access control systems.
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Prefer candidates pursuing a degree in Electrical or Network Engineering
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Experience with Revit or Autodesk software suites
• Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite
• Preference given to local candidates.
