Job summary

Monarch Family Services in Houston seeks a Home Assessor Specialist to manage a 17-20 caseload full-time, coordinate ICPC processes with the ICPC Program Director and Texas State, and ensure families receive all needed services for kinship or unrelated foster/adoption placements.

You will conduct orientations, complete Initial Assessments within 30 days, perform in-home visits, and document promptly to support timely verifications and service access.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of 17-20 (full-time).
• Coordinate with ICPC Program Director and Texas State to assist with ICPC processes.
• Ensure children in relative care are connected to needed services.
• Complete orientation meetings with families and collect data for Initial Assessment within 30 days.
• Provide information, encouragement, and reminders to families to complete verification requirements.
• Conduct initial and final walk-throughs of caregiver homes and plan home studies.
• Enter documentation into the database within 72 hours of receipt.
• Fully develop homes for kinship or unrelated foster/adoption home study.
• Complete a minimum of two home studies per month.
• Connect families to social work for community resources and supports.
• Provide monthly updates to ICPC Texas State Office about progress.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Comply with Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies and Monarch Family Services’ policies and procedures
• Innovative and creative approaches to service delivery
• Participate in ICPC Kinship Specialized Pre-Service and Annual training
• Work effectively with the foster and adoption team
• Maintain required annual employee training and documentation for self and other ICPC Specialists
• Maintain positive professional relationships with families, colleagues, CPS, and the community
• Communicate and respond to families, staff, and other professionals in a timely and professional manner.
• Other duties as assigned by ICPC Program Director

HOME ASSESSOR SPECIALIST DUTIES:

• Maintain a caseload of 17-20 (full-time)
• Coordinate with ICPC PD and Texas State to assist with the ICPC process and improve service accessibility to families, children, and youth.
• Ensure children already placed in relative care are referred and connected to all needed services when need is identified.
• Complete Orientation meetings with inquiring families to provide information to them about the verification requirements and process, collect data from the family, and complete the Initial Assessment within 30 days of referral.
• Provide information, assistance, encouragement, and reminders to applicant families to ensure that they complete the requirements for verification.
• Complete initial and final walk-throughs of caregiver homes
• Conduct in home visits and meetings collaboratively with families to consider their schedule & needs
• Enter documentation received in database system within 72 hours of receiving.
• Fully develop and prepare homes for (kinship or unrelated) foster, adoption or foster/adoption home study
• Complete a minimum of Two (2) home studies per month.
• Connect family to social work department for community resource connection and other supports
• Facilitate connections between families and various inter-agency resources.
• Provide monthly updates for ICPC Texas State Office about the progress of the home
• Refer families to MFS training and identification of further training as needed of ICPC families
• Maintain positive professional relationships with families, colleagues, CPS, Transferring State staff, and the community
