Job summary

PACCAR is seeking an Internal Combustion Engine Validation Engineer to lead the planning and execution of engine, powertrain, and vehicle validation activities within the Global Powertrain department. The role requires strong technical expertise and collaboration across engineering and test teams to mitigate risks and align with program schedules.

The candidate will develop DVP&Rs, improve validation procedures, and coordinate budgets, resources, and test plans to support market introduction

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in engine, powertrain, or vehicle validation and testing.
  • Experience with DVP&R and validation plans.
  • Knowledge of durability, reliability, performance, emissions testing.
  • Experience with lab, dynamometer, vehicle, and field testing.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage risk-based DVP&R for engine, powertrain and vehicle programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and test teams to define validation requirements.
  • Create and improve global validation procedures and test protocols.
  • Ensure test plans align with program objectives and are executed effectively.
  • Coordinate validation activities with internal and external test resources.
  • Support validation budgets, resource forecasting, and test equipment planning.
  • Analyze test results and communicate risks, issues, and actions.
  • Develop validation metrics and provide regular status updates to leadership.
  • Identify validation risks and drive mitigation for successful launches.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and technical reviews for testing requirements.
  • Support design reviews, FMEA, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in validation efficiency and test effectiveness.

Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Global Powertrain department is seeking a highly motivated Internal Combustion Engine Validation Engineer in our Powertrain Validation Team to lead the planning and execution of engine, powertrain, and vehicle validation activities. This role will collaborate closely with engineering and test departments to develop a comprehensive risk mitigation plan and ensure it is executed in alignment with the program schedule to support market introduction plans. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical expertise in engine validation, excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage risk-based DVP&R for engine, powertrain, and vehicle programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and global test teams to define validation requirements and support program milestones.
  • Create, standardize, and improve global validation procedures and test protocols.
  • Ensure test plans are complete, aligned with program objectives, and executed effectively.
  • Coordinate validation activities with internal and external test resources to meet timing and quality targets.
  • Support program management with validation budgets, resource forecasting, and test equipment planning.
  • Analyze test results and communicate performance, risks, issues, and recommended actions.
  • Develop validation metrics and provide regular status updates to program and leadership teams.
  • Identify validation risks and drive mitigation plans to support successful product launches.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and technical reviews to establish testing requirements and validate supplier capabilities.
  • Support design reviews, FMEA activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on validation efficiency, test effectiveness, and process standardization.
  • Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in engine, powertrain, or vehicle validation and testing.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, powertrain systems, and product development processes.
  • Experience developing and executing DVP&R and validation plans.
  • Knowledge of durability, reliability, performance, emissions, and environmental testing.
  • Experience with laboratory, dynamometer, vehicle, and field testing.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
