Job summary

Loomis Chaffee School is seeking an experienced Ice Rink Operator and Grounds Maintainer to oversee daily rink operations, ice maintenance, and athletic facility support at Windsor, CT. The role includes operating Mammoth Ice Maintenance equipment, coordinating facility usage for practices and events, and maintaining arenas and grounds during hockey season.

Primary responsibilities focus on ice maintenance and rink operations, with secondary duties in grounds upkeep and event support.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily rink operations and management.
• Maintain high-quality ice through resurfacing, edging, flooding, leveling, and dry shaving.
• Operate and maintain Mammoth Ice Maintenance equipment safely.
• Perform seasonal rink startup, ice installation, painting, and shutdown.
• Coordinate facility usage for practices, games, rentals, and events.
• Sharpen skates and maintain sharpening equipment.
• Maintain locker rooms, lobby, boards, glass, and spectator areas.
• Assist with athletic facility setup and breakdown.
• Support equipment management and event operations.
• Provide venue preparation and readiness support.
• Perform mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and general grounds work.
• Assist with athletic field maintenance and landscaping.
• Support snow and ice removal operations.
• Assist other Physical Plant departments as needed.

Loomis Chaffee School seeks an experienced full-time Rink Operator & Ice Maintenance Technician to oversee rink operations, ice maintenance, athletic support, and seasonal grounds activities. The primary responsibility is operation and maintenance of Savage Johnson Rink.

Rink Operations & Ice Maintenance (Primary Responsibility)

• Oversee daily rink operations and management.
• Maintain high-quality ice through resurfacing, edging, flooding, leveling, and dry shaving.
