Job summary

Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT seeks an experienced full-time Ice Rink Operator and Ice Maintenance Technician to oversee rink operations, ice maintenance, athletic support, and seasonal grounds tasks. The primary responsibility is the Savage Johnson Rink's operation and upkeep.

Responsibilities include daily rink management, ice resurfacing and flood control, equipment maintenance with Mammoth Ice Maintenance gear, and coordinating facility use for practices, games, and events.

Qualifications

• Experience with rink operations and ice maintenance preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends during hockey season.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily rink operations and management.
• Maintain high-quality ice through resurfacing, edging, flooding, leveling, and dry shaving.
• Operate and maintain Mammoth Ice Maintenance equipment safely.
• Perform seasonal rink startup, ice installation, painting, and shutdown.
• Coordinate facility usage for practices, games, rentals, and events.
• Sharpen skates and maintain sharpening equipment.
• Maintain locker rooms, lobby, boards, glass, and spectator areas.
• Assist with athletic facility setup and breakdown.
• Support equipment management and event operations.
• Provide venue preparation and readiness support.
• Perform mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and general grounds work.
• Support snow and ice removal operations.

Loomis Chaffee School seeks an experienced full‑time Rink Operator & Ice Maintenance Technician to oversee rink operations, ice maintenance, athletic support, and seasonal grounds activities. The primary responsibility is operation and maintenance of Savage Johnson Rink.

Rink Operations & Ice Maintenance (Primary Responsibility)

• Oversee daily rink operations and management.
• Maintain high‑quality ice through resurfacing, edging, flooding, leveling, and dry shaving.
• Operate and maintain Mammoth Ice Maintenance equipment safely.
• Perform seasonal rink startup, ice installation, painting, and shutdown.
• Coordinate facility usage for practices, games, rentals, and events.
• Sharpen skates and maintain sharpening equipment.
• Maintain locker rooms, lobby, boards, glass, and spectator areas.

Athletic Facilities & Event Support

• Assist with athletic facility setup and breakdown.
• Support equipment management and event operations.
• Provide venue preparation and readiness support.

Grounds & Campus Support (Secondary Responsibility)

• Perform mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and general grounds work.
• Assist with athletic field maintenance and landscaping.
• Support snow and ice removal operations.
• Assist other Physical Plant departments as needed.
