A leading company is seeking an Ice Operations Supervisor to manage ice maintenance and operations at Braemar Arena. This role includes supervising part-time technicians, ensuring high-quality ice conditions, overseeing operations and staff training, and maintaining compliance with safety standards.
The Ice Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ice maintenance and operations at Braemar Arena. This position provides work direction to a team of full-time staff and provides direct supervision to over 30 part-time ice technicians, ensuring high-quality ice conditions and safe, efficient operations of resurfacing equipment, refrigeration systems, and related assets. The Ice Operations Supervisor also supports facility operations in collaboration with the Arena Management Team.
Scope of Impact:
The duties and responsibilities of this job are performed with latitude for independent judgment in accordance with Department and City policies, Federal, State, and local regulations. Work is subject to periodic review by the General Manager and Assistant Manager, who provide approval of recommendations and guidance on assignments and priorities. This position provides work direction to full-time ice staff and directly supervises part-time ice technicians and contributes to operational planning, staff development, and facility event readiness.
Minimum Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in ice maintenance, including experience operating and maintaining ice resurfaces and supervising staff. Customer service experience is required. Candidates must possess experience providing work direction and training to employees or hold formal training in supervision. A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates must be able to obtain Certified Ice Technician (CIT) certification within two years of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree; Certified Ice Technician (CIT) designation; experience with ammonia-based refrigeration systems; experience maintaining four or more ice surfaces; experience working in a high-volume public facility; supervisory experience over large part-time teams; knowledge of tournament/event operations; experience using ice arena facility management software platforms.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Requires daily lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 80 pounds and occasional lifting beyond that with assistance. Frequent walking, bending, and climbing stairs. Work may be performed on cold surfaces or in cold environments for extended periods. May occasionally work at heights using lifts or ladders.
Working Conditions:
Work occurs indoors within a cold arena environment and outdoors during snow removal and event support. Some tasks may expose the employee to slip/falls, loud noise, temperature extremes, cuts, and potentially hazardous substances (refrigerants, fuel, cleaning supplies). Schedule includes early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Position serves as on-call contact for ice maintenance issues.
