Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking an ICE Assembly Process Engineering Intern to support the Concord, NC team onsite this Summer 2027. The role focuses on documenting how processes and departments interact, standardizing workflows, and supporting engineering operations and manufacturing projects.

You will create and update work instructions, process diagrams, and ECN documentation while gaining exposure to Atlas Copco tooling and torque processes on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering related degree.
• Comfortable in office and manufacturing environments.
• Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Help with process mapping and flow charts.
• Document interactions between Engineering, Assembly, Quality, and Supply Chain.
• Assist with ECN documentation and tracking.
• Update and create work instructions and process documentation.
• Spend time on the factory floor to learn current assembly processes.
• Identify gaps or bottlenecks and support improvement efforts.
• Support continuous improvement projects and data organization.
• Assist with IFS/ERP data entry and process updates.
• Help monitor tool usage with Atlas Copco equipment and torque tools.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and track action items.
