Northwell Health seeks a skilled Medical Coder to perform coding and abstracting duties for patient records across multiple units at 1111 Marcus Ave, Lake Success, NY. You will ensure accurate coding for diagnoses and procedures, applying UHDDS and CMS guidelines daily.

The role requires CCS/CPC/CIC/COC or equivalent credentials and a minimum of two years’ experience in ICD-10 coding within an acute care setting.

Formación

• Certified coding credentials required.
• Two years of ICD-10 outpatient/inpatient coder experience in an acute care facility.
• Competent with electronic medical records and coding/abstracting systems.
• Experience with Computer Assisted Coding preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze and interpret medical records to ensure accurate diagnoses and procedures for coding.
• Apply UHDDS definitions and regulatory guidelines to select principal and secondary diagnoses, acuity, severity, and risk of mortality.
• Code and report diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS with POA indicators.
• Assign discharge disposition per CMS rules and regulations.
• Generate physician queries to clarify documentation and finalize coding determinations.
