Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking an ICC Certified Special Inspector to perform inspections on commercial, industrial, and public works projects in the San Jose area. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and certification in Reinforced Concrete; additional ICC certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities include performing inspections per plans, documenting field reports, communicating findings to project teams, and ensuring compliance with safety

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing special inspections or QA/QC work.
• Thorough understanding of construction materials, structural systems, and applicable building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections in accordance with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and ICC requirements.
• Inspect reinforced concrete construction and related structural systems for compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct inspections of structural masonry, post‑tensioned concrete, prestressed concrete, structural steel, bolting, and welding as certified.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable code requirements.
• Document inspection activities and prepare clear, accurate field reports and project documentation.
• Maintain complete and organized project files, including reports, field notes, correspondence, RFIs, and supporting records.
• Communicate inspection findings and project updates with project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
• Identify and document non‑conforming work and verify corrective actions when required.
• Perform inspections in accordance with company quality standards and safety procedures.
