Job summary

A local school district in Columbus, Indiana seeks an Assistant Site Coordinator for before-and-after school care. Job description

Position Purpose

The Assistant Site Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator to help organize and facilitate before‑and‑after school care at the site level, ensuring Indiana Afterschool Standards are met.

Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee site staff and uphold site professionalism.
  • Attend school Open House and Kindergarten Round‑up, and staff the i‑CARE information table.
  • Serve as a liaison between parents and the school, including handling written communication to families.
  • Take payments, ensure accounts are current, and make deposits as scheduled to comply with state requirements.
  • Ensure daily attendance is accurately submitted into EZChildTrack, monitor attendance sheets to ensure the parent portion is complete, and submit originals to the i‑CARE office while keeping copies on site.
  • Attend trainings and professional development meetings as directed.
  • Monitor assessments and retrieve classroom data to submit program, site, and student reports via EZReports and/or Excel spreadsheet entry.
  • Provide leadership for establishing student services.
  • Provide visible support and motivation to elementary building staff and families.
  • Establish a positive school climate and orderly program space for students, staff, and volunteers.
  • Help the Site Coordinator organize and conclude the school/program year with a detailed exit inventory.
  • Evoke confidence and trust from families, building staff, and community members.
  • Monitor the bus radio for any transportation needs until all of the site's students are safely home.
  • Assist and guide students with all subject areas during Homework and Enrichment time.
  • Reinforce basic learning and implement assigned activities with students individually and in small groups.
  • Assist in program preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
  • Assist with program behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensuring a safe and orderly site, and keeping students on task.
  • Assist in non‑instructional areas, such as supervising the student snack, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, Positive Action, and other related areas when needed.
  • Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as necessary.
  • Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion and achievement of IEP objectives.
  • Assist students with disabilities in activities to maximize their participation in after‑school or learning activities.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
  • Must be available to work 6:30–8 a.m. (6:30–10 a.m. on 2‑hour delays) and 2–6 p.m. daily.
Additional Duties
  • Assist other sites as needed.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned. Note: The above description is illustrative and not all inclusive of every task or responsibility.
Equipment

Physical and Mental Demands & Work Hazards

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.

Terms of Employment

Less than 12 months.

4 hrs per day, working 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Applicant must also be available to work some or all mornings from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. depending upon site.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Hourly Rate Placement: $18.22 per hour.

An additional $1 per hour will be paid through referendum funds.
