The 308 State Bureau of Investigation seeks an ICAC Technical Investigator to perform digital forensics on electronic devices and assist in child exploitation investigations. You will conduct field previews, mobile device examinations, preserve evidence, and prepare reports for court proceedings.

Level I–III positions require a bachelor’s degree and relevant training; certification like Cellebrite is preferred.

Qualifications

• Level I requires foundational knowledge in computers, evidence collection, and basic mobile devices.
• Level II adds experience in digital evidence examinations and report writing.
• Level III requires supervisory experience and specialized certifications in cybercrime.
• All levels require the ability to communicate findings clearly for court.

Responsabilités

• Performs field forensic previews of computers, cell phones, and other digital evidence items to assist in criminal investigations primarily focused on child exploitation and sexual abuse.
• Conducts full mobile device examinations in an office environment.
• Collects and preserves evidence, maintains related records and chain of custody.
• Analyzes and evaluates collected evidence and information and prepares written reports.
• Receives and manages evidence associated with cases submitted for forensic analysis.
• Ensures that the integrity of the evidence is protected by following standard procedures and evidence handling policies.
• Maintains forensic computer systems and software.
• Maintains related assigned equipment and any certifications or special qualifications.
• Provides digital forensic assistance to other local, state and federal agencies when requested.
• Maintains assigned state vehicles and evidence collection equipment within the vehicles.
• Evaluates new forensic tools and trainings for possible inclusion.
• Trains or assists in training lower-level Technical Investigators.
