The ICE Technician at CONSOLIDATED ASSET MANAGEMENT SERVICES JUNIPER (TEXAS), LLC in Temple, TX will analyze electrical problems, repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls, calibrate valves, level and flow instrumentation, and troubleshoot PLC programming and DCS issues. Dismantling and installing machinery as needed.

The Temple facility comprises two 766MW blocks with Siemens turbines and generators; the role requires extensive field work, reading data sheets and schematics, and

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in instruments and controls of electrical applications.

Job description

The ICE Technician will analyze and correct electrical problems and repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls. Calibrate control valves, level, and flow instrumentation. Able to connect to and troubleshoot PLC programming and DCS issues. Dismantle and install machinery and service equipment as needed.

The Temple Power Facility consist of (2) 766MW combined cycle power blocks, each with (2) Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines, (1) Siemens SST6-5000 Steam Turbine; and (3) Siemens Generators, including all associated gas and electrical interconnection systems and facilities and other associated equipment, systems, and structures; water treatment, cooling, supply, and discharge systems; plant auxiliary and support facilities. Each plant is interconnected to Oncor Electric Delivery Company at 345 kV and sells power into the ERCOT market.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and calibrate indicating and controlling digital and electronic instruments that measure and control process variables, such as pressure, flow, level, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments.
• Interpret technical documentation: data sheets, vendor manuals, troubleshooting flowcharts, etc. Interpret/ prepare technical drawings from simple schematics to complex P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and PLC ladder logic diagrams.
• Understand digital control systems and valves, transmitters, and transducers.
• Configure digital transmitters. Interpret data from advanced diagnostic programs for instrumentation.
• Disassemble malfunctioning instruments, examine, and test mechanism and circuitry for defects.
• Troubleshoot equipment in or out of control loops and replace or repair defective parts.
• Reassemble instruments, test, and calibrate assembly for conformance with specifications using test instruments such as multi-meters, manometers, smart communicators, and pressure instruments.
• Maintain and control spare parts inventory and assist in budget planning and control.
• Knowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment rated 480 volts through 5,000 volts.
• Knowledge of 480 volt through 5,000-volt cable terminations and splices.
• Knowledge of electrical components.
• Inspect instruments periodically and make minor calibration adjustments to assure they are functioning within specified controlled variables.

Qualifications And Skills

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Trade school, military, or technical training school.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in instruments and controls of electrical applications.
• Must be able to repair control valves and positioners.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment rated 480 volts through 5,000 volts.
• Knowledge of 480 volt through 5,000-volt cable terminations and splices.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of electrical components.
• Able to perform switching on 345,000-volt systems.
• Ability to understand Electrical Area Classification and installation requirement for electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
• Understanding of digital control systems and valves, transmitters, and transducers.
• Troubleshooting skills for 480 volts through 15,000-volt motor and circuit breaker controls
• All candidates will participate in the post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
• This position requires extended working hours and varied shifts including weekend and holiday work. The ability to be “on call” may also be required periodically.

• Working in varied outdoor environments such as all-weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on the full range of outdoor work surfaces.
• The frequent use of protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.) may be required. Work with hazardous materials may also be required.
• Working in proximity to high voltages and current with proper training and equipment, operating heavy equipment and rolling stock and entering confined spaces or hazardous environments may be required while often being exposed to equipment and machinery noises.
• Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, operation of large valves and other tasks requiring up to 50 lbs. of pulling or turning force, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
• Eye and hand coordination are required to operate switches, pushbuttons, and other controls.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

$52 - $67 an hour

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
