Job summary

ContourGlobal in Redwood, CA is seeking an Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician to join the Plant Operations team.

You will report to the Plant Manager and maintain the reliability, safety, and performance of our power generation assets through inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and calibration of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment across the plant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Instrument Technician program preferred.
• Experience as IC&E Technician in power generation or related industry.
• Experience with SAP or CMMS systems.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and backup systems.
• Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings.
• Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control equipment up to 4,160 V.
• Troubleshoot DCS, PLC, and turbine-control equipment.
• Support CG Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
• Work varied shifts to support plant operations.

Job Summary

As an Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician, you will join our Plant Operations team! In this role, you will report to the Plant Manager and play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of our power generation assets. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and calibration of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment across the plant and associated facilities. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:

Health and safety

• Have a strong working knowledge of the ContourGlobal Health & Safety Management System and its respective safe work practices, i.e., Permit to Work, Management of Change, and Contractor Safety etc.
• Coach and mentor facility employee through engagement on proper safety behaviors, use of the ContourGlobal Management System and its respective expectations and through on-going participation of in Health & Safety activities i.e., inspection, incident investigation and visible felt leadership.
• Verify job tasks are adequately reviewed prior to initiating work and when changes occur in the work environment or tasks requirements.
• Ensure all Incidents and potential adverse events (i.e., Near Misses) are quickly communicated to Plant leadership and Health & Safety site/regional support.

Main Duties

• Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems, as well as emergency backup systems.
• Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings, for all designated equipment.
• Assist in maintaining and controlling spare-parts inventory, to maintain Plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
• Participate in the administrative maintenance of Plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
• Work shifts, as required to support the operation of the Plant.
• Inspect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries; and work with electrical systems, up to and including 4,160 volts.
• Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and turbine-control equipment.
• Maintain all Plant instrumentation and electrical test equipment.
• Fully support and participate in CG Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
• Complete other tasks, as assigned by Maintenance/Plant Manager.
• And other duties as assigned.
• Strives for excellence and looks for opportunity to improve/make work more efficient and with higher quality.
• Analyzes issues and identifies the root cause of a near miss/failure and take actions to eliminate it in the future.
• Effectively uses CG practices/methodology for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

Your profile is a natural match if you have:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program preferred.
• Experience as an Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician or in a similar technical role within power generation, industrial manufacturing, or a related industry.
• Experience working with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems used in modern power generation facilities, including combustion controls, boiler controls, turbine controls, and machine condition monitoring systems.
• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including switchgear, motors, transformers, batteries, chargers, inverters, generators, and excitation equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and operating procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement practical solutions.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following established safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

What drives your application forward:

• Previous experience in a power plant environment.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage electrical systems, including 13.8kV, 4,160V, and 480V equipment.
• Experience supporting preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required to support plant operations.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Experience working safely around industrial equipment and hazardous materials while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
