Amtex Enterprises Inc. in Houston is seeking an IBM iSeries DB2 SQL Developer to design, implement, and optimize database solutions on the IBM iSeries platform.

The role focuses on SQL stored procedures, modernization from RPG to SQL, and integrating backend services via REST APIs and JSON. The ideal candidate will have expert SQL skills on IBM iSeries, experience with DB2, and familiarity with IBM tooling (Aldon, RDI, ACS).

Qualifications

• Expert level experience with SQL stored procedures on the IBM iSeries platform.
• Experience converting RPG to SQL stored procedures in DB2.
• Exposure to IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain database applications on the IBM iSeries platform, using SQL stored procedures and DB2.
• Modernize tables, tune performance, and work with large transactional data sets.
• Interact with front-end via REST APIs and JSON.
• Implement business logic in SQL stored procedures on IBM iSeries.
• Maintain source control with Git and integration workflows.
• Gain experience with Python, microservices, and VS Code IDE development.

Job description

Job Title : IBM iSeries DB2 SQL developer
Location: Downtown Houston, TX- Hybrid work schedule of 3 days a week on-site downtown Houston. Paid parking.
Duration: 12+ Months – Multi Year Contract

• Develop and maintain various database applications on the IBM iSeries platform, utilizing SQL stored procedures, modernizing tables, performance tuning and working with large transactional tables.
• Expert level experience with SQL stored procedures implementing business logic on the IBM iSeries platform. Please give examples of 2 projects where they have done this. Please note that this is a MUST.
• Experience with coding custom implementations for HFM,oracle financials, etc
• Conversion/modernization experience from RPG to SQL stored procedures in db2
• IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS etc
• Application development experience interacting with front end using REST APIs, Json
• Exposure to python, microservices, VS code IDE development
• Git source control and integration
