Job summary

CU*Answers in Las Vegas is seeking an IBM Power I Systems Administrator to oversee and maintain our iSeries infrastructure for internal and managed client environments.

You will ensure high availability, system integrity, and performance, including replication, audits, and DR testing, while coordinating with internal teams and clients. This role emphasizes independent judgment and secure handling of sensitive data.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in IT or business or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years' experience with IBM Power I (iSeries/AS-400) systems and related PC components.
• Familiarity with Windows, networking (TCP/IP, WAN/LAN), and HMCs.
• Ability to perform off-hour support duties as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional client interaction.
• Principled decision-making, discretion with sensitive data, attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for application and hardware issues on IBM Power I Systems.
• Configure, maintain, and support IBM iSeries for CU*Answers and clients.
• Execute high availability and disaster recovery activities, including replication and audits.
• Perform hardware/software maintenance, firmware updates, and PTFS.
• Install IBM Power I systems from bare metal with proper configuration.
• Maintain BRMS and virtual tape libraries for backup/recovery.
• Manage security, automation, and monitoring tools (Firewall, Audit).
• Ensure network connectivity and security (TCP/IP, encryption).
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Create system documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients; communicate clearly.
