SERVICE AREA: Community Mental Health (CMH)

PROGRAM: Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS)

ROLE TYPE: Fee-for-Service (Special Payroll)

Job Overview:

Provide therapeutic support and behavioral interventions to children/adolescents in home, school, and/or community settings to help the client achieve the goals identified in their treatment plan.

Responsibilities:
  1. Foster a therapeutic relationship with the child and support their therapeutic needs and goals.
  2. Use therapeutic techniques and interventions based on the treatment/behavior plan to help clients achieve their goals.
  3. Contribute to the development of the treatment plan with input and feedback.
  4. Provide crisis management and support, including prevention, de-escalation, and processing strategies.
  5. Coach teachers, parents, and children on implementing strategies and interventions.
  6. Engage clients and caregivers actively to work toward treatment goals.
  7. Provide feedback on intervention outcomes to team members.
  8. Follow CASSP principles, ensuring a child-centered, family-focused, community-based, culturally competent approach.
  9. Collaborate regularly with treatment team members.
  10. Attend supervision and training as required by service hours.
  11. Complete mandatory trainings and ensure compliance with policies and confidentiality.
Contributing to the Team:
  1. Participate in team meetings and maintain effective communication.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
  3. Model responsible team behavior and support colleagues.
  4. Respond promptly to concerns from clients, families, and staff.
Trauma-Informed Behavior:
  • Commit to trauma-informed care, promoting safety and nonviolence.
  • Utilize trauma-informed practices, including emotional intelligence and strengths-based approaches.
Administrative Activities:
  • Ensure compliance with policies, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Complete documentation thoroughly and timely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:
  • Understanding of behavior modification interventions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Problem-solving and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to assess and record behavioral data.
  • Knowledge of CASSP principles.
  • Effective communication of treatment objectives.
  • Ability to administer First Aid and CPR if necessary.
Qualifications:

Must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or related human services field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in behavioral health services.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List, with certification from a BCBA or BCaBA, or on-the-job training provided.
