Essential Job Functions:

1. Lead team through essential daily functions to perform projects safely and efficiently.
2. Perform all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader/General Foreman.
3. Assist in the performance of specialized pruning and take-downs, installing cabling and bracing.
4. Safely operate equipment (chainsaw, chipper, trucks, and hand tools).
5. Participate in all job site safety briefings.
6. Demonstrate and perform safe climbing techniques and procedures, pruning skills, application of approved knots and rigging techniques.
7. Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
8. Utilize knowledge of compartmentalization and other concepts related to tree wounding/pruning.

Qualifications

Education/Training Requirements:

1. CDL Class A license preferred, not required
2. ISA Certified Tree Worker preferred

Skills/Experience:

1. Class A license
2. Knowledge of proper pruning practices including large shade trees and ornamentals.
3. Knowledge of native and introduced tree and shrub species and characteristics of each species.
4. Knowledge of chain saw safety and operation.
5. Adept in tree climbing & bucket truck operation.
6. Ability to work independently and in a group.
7. Ability to learn quickly and to follow instructions accurately.
8. Ability to adhere to safety requirements.
9. Prolonged periods climbing and standing on ladders and raised platforms at extreme heights.
10. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds for extended periods of time.
11. Must be able to push or pull up to 70 pounds.
12. Must be able to work in all types of weather and at extreme temperatures.
13. May be exposed to higher-than-average risk of work-related injuries and illnesses from exposure to dangerous working conditions, machinery, and heights.
