Job summary

Swissport in Sterling, VA, is seeking a Ramp Manager to efficiently direct ground handling operations, ensuring safety and on‑time service for passengers and aircraft. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of airport management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with GHA and all airport departments to ensure on‑time flight closure and passenger boarding.
  • Provide support to staff during flight disruptions and ensure passengers receive full support.
  • Assign staff for VIP/CIP travel and monitor VIP arrangements.
  • Manage resources including manpower; brief staff and deploy as needed.
  • Assist other departments in resolving commercial-related complaints and maintaining on‑time performance.
  • Prevent revenue leakage and pilferage at airport level.
  • Handle contingency situations and investigations on theft/pilferage.
  • Accountable for daily operations and safety/quality standards.
  • Maintain good relations with customers and airport authorities.
  • Oversee payroll and daily budgets; ensure adherence to policies.

Job Summary

To efficiently and profitably manage and direct ramp activities by providing a safe, quality product covering a range of ground handling services to its customers.


The expected pay rate is $60,000 - $65,000/year. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.


Your activities


  • Works closely with GHA and all airport departments to ensure on‑time flight closure and passenger boarding in achieving the on‑time Performance targets and handling emergency situations.

  • Provide support to staff in case of Flight Disruptions, Misconnections ect. And ensuring passengers are provided with full support during any disruption.

  • Well conversant with the details of the arrivals/departures and other commitments to be met, like travel of VIP/CIP, and assign staff for the purpose.

  • Effective management of available resources including manpower. Allocation of duties to staff, briefs them about their functions and latest instructions on handling procedures, and deploy them in time.

  • Render all possible assistance to other departments in disposing of commercial‑related complaints and in ensuring on‑time performance.

  • Preventive measures to ensure there is no revenue leakage/theft of pilferage occur at Airport level

  • Contingency Handling Preparedness

  • Take prompt actions on all the incidents, carry out on‑the‑spot enquiries into the case of theft/pilferage, intervene in cases of violation of handling.

  • Accountable for daily operations.

  • Maintain and improve customer and company safety and quality standards.

  • Maintain good relations with customers and airport authorities

  • Manage and control all staff assignments.

  • Hold daily briefings with passenger service team.

  • Provide support to front line management.

  • Manages payroll & daily budgets.

  • Ensure workforce adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Your profile


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree preferred.

  • 3 years of airport management experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of passenger service operations.

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Leadership ability.

  • Customer focus and quality awareness.

  • Ability to deal with conflict.

  • Valid Driver's License.
