The IA Learning, Development, and Engagement Director manages multiple teams through other managers. An in-depth understanding of how IA contributes to achieving the objectives of the function is necessary, along with a good understanding of the industry and direct competitors' products and services. This role requires a thorough understanding of the strategic direction of IA, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both IA and/or risk and controls and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills are required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.
This role provides the Internal Audit organization with strategic direction, oversight, and delivery of the learning and development, communications, and engagement processes across the global audit team. The IA Learning, Development, and Engagement Director is responsible for developing and delivering learning, communications, and engagement strategies that align with the overall IA business objectives. Working closely with senior IA leaders, this role oversees the skills assessment process, develops a learning curriculum, and delivers against this program to support the global department. Additionally, this role liaises with various Human Resources and Communications teams across Citi.
This role is a key member of the IA Chief Operating Office and works closely with key partners across Citi to ensure the audit department can deliver against IA's purpose and is sufficiently skilled to provide value-add assurance to the firm.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for end-to-end learning and communication processes for Global IA.
- Works closely with IA Leadership to develop and implement a learning and development strategy that supports the delivery of high-quality audit work and assurance outcomes.
- Establishes strategies and solutions linked to organizational goals by building and maintaining strong partnerships to drive performance improvement and behavior change.
- Develops and oversees a streamlined process to assess the existence and proficiency of skills necessary to support achieving IA objectives, completing the annual audit plan, and meeting regulatory and IIA requirements; identifies gaps in skills and develops corrective actions to address.
- Leads the analysis of current versus future state gaps, identifies root causes, determines the appropriate solution, and measures success.
- Develops the strategy for measuring the effectiveness of new joiner, recurring, and targeted training.
- Understands IA and HR priorities/needs and identifies key opportunities for performance improvement and cultural development.
- Leads and oversees a team responsible for developing and delivering training for the global IA team on various mediums (e.g., virtual/live; module-based).
- Supports information and knowledge-sharing forums across the IA department.
- Regularly engages and collaborates with HR/Business partners, supporting firm-wide change initiatives within IA.
- Stays abreast of regulatory and QA feedback, industry expectations, and external market trends to anticipate their impact on future capability and learning requirements for IA.
- Leads and oversees a team that develops and delivers the communications and engagement strategy for the global organization.
- Creates engaging content across various formats including speeches, presentations, video scripts, and written communications.
- Supports strategic IA initiatives and change management processes.
Qualifications/Education:- BA/BS or equivalent.
- Risk/control and/or audit background required.
- Strong experience in a related role with extensive experience in business, functional, and people management.
- Effective negotiation skills and a proactive approach in communicating issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal audit and senior management.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing teams.
