SXSW in Austin, TX is seeking a Film & TV Submissions Intern to learn the submissions process and support the festival's programming team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in festival operations.

You will field submission inquiries, update the FileMaker database, coordinate with screeners, and assist with weekly screener assignments while gaining exposure to a major international event.

• Assist Senior Film & TV Festival Programming Manager with updating the Filmmaker materials.
• Assist Film & TV Team with weekly screener assignments and communications.
• Provide the Film & TV Team with internal operations support.

SXSW Film & TV Submissions Intern

Internship Purpose
The SXSW Film & TV Department is seeking an individual who is eager to learn more about the submission process at a Film and TV Festival. This internship will provide a broad, hands‑on introduction to the fundamentals of internal operations, with a primary focus on Festival Submissions. It will require interfacing with those who submit to the SXSW Film & TV Festival, so excellent communication skills are necessary.
What you will learn:

• The ins and outs of internal operations at a major Film & TV Festival
• How to interact with SXSW Film & TV Festival applicants
• How to troubleshoot various filmmaker and submission-related issues
• How to use FileMaker Pro to become familiar with the submissions
• How to use organizational software like AirTable and ClickUp

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully:

• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 10+ pounds occasionally, as needed.
• Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
• May require occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, or climbing stairs.
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.

Work Location, Schedule & Pay
This position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A time commitment of 16 hours a week is required.
