Job summary

Clean Harbors El Dorado, AR Incinerator in El Dorado, AR is seeking an I&E Technician Intern to join our safety-focused team for Summer 2027. This in-person internship provides hands-on experience while supporting projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services.

Start dates are May 17 or May 24, 2027, with internships running through August. You will shadow technicians, assist in troubleshooting, and learn to verify schematics and P&IDs while maintaining safety and accurate

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a two-year I&E program, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of P&IDs and electrical schematics preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Assist in troubleshooting instruments and control system malfunctions.
• Shadow technicians performing preventive maintenance, calibrations, and inspections.
• Support cabling, power distribution, switchgear, and motor control centers work.
• Gain exposure to substation equipment and medium voltage electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate records and logs as required.
• Verify and update P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation.

Clean Harbors El Dorado, AR Incinerator is seeking a I&E Technician Intern to join our safety-focused team. This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience while supporting real projects that contribute to business priorities across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. We are searching for a reliable and team-oriented individual with an excellent commitment to safety to join our growing team during Summer 2027!

This internship is an in-person opportunity based at our El Dorado Incinerator and is not eligible for remote work. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to our industry, and develop practical skills that support their academic and early career goals.

Start dates for our Summer 2027 Internship Program are May 17th or May 24th of 2027. Internships will run through the summer and end in August.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Assist in troubleshooting instruments and control system malfunctions
• Shadow technicians performing preventative maintenance checks, calibrations, and inspections
• Support work on cabling, power distribution systems, switchgear, and motor control centers
• Gain exposure to substation equipment and medium voltage electrical systems
• Maintain accurate records and logs as required
• Verify and update P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation

What does it take to intern with Clean Harbors?

• Currently pursuing a degree in a two-year I&E program, electrical engineering, or other relevant field at an accredited college or university;
• Knowledge of P&IDs and electrical schematics preferred;
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail;
• Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to work independently;
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook);
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbally;
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for prolonged periods, and work at heights;
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
