Job summary

Phillips 66 is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician for Mt Vernon Midstream in Missouri. The role focuses on safe operations, maintenance of pipeline assets, and scheduled overtime with a possible 4/10 schedule.

You will support installations, calibrations, and rebuilds on mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, TWIC eligibility, and 4+ years in similar work.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Associates or higher in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics preferred.
  • Experience with midstream pipelines or terminals is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration and timely submitting appropriate reports.
  • Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements.
  • Maintaining an effective spare parts inventory.
  • Assisting in pump tear‑down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.
  • Working with the Pipeline Integrity and Reliability group for new technologies around rotating equipment.
  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative maintenance.
  • Repairing minor electrical repairs.
  • Troubleshooting control circuits for motors.
  • Reading and understanding pump curves and P&ID diagrams.

The Instrumentation & Electrical Technician, Mt Vernon Midstream is primarily responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of company pipeline assets located in and around the Mt. Vernon, MO area. This position works Monday through Friday day shift with the potential for occasional overtime and emergency call outs. Based on business need and with supervisor approval, the employee may elect to work a 4/10 work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration and timely submitting appropriate reports.
  • Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements.
  • Maintaining an effective spare parts inventory.
  • Assisting in pump tear‑down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.
  • Working with the Pipeline Integrity and Reliability group for new technologies around rotating equipment.
  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining mechanical skills by attending training sessions and on‑the‑job training.
  • Maintaining technical and administrative records, including prints and project reports.
  • Repairing minor electrical repairs.
  • Troubleshooting control circuits for motors.
  • Responding to emergencies and participating in emergency response.
  • Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Supervising, directing, and training contract crews.
  • Participating in Safety Action Plans.
  • Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training (CBT).
  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
  • Reading and understanding pump curves.
  • Reading and understanding P&ID’s (process and instrumentation diagrams).
Qualifications
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC); information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic.
  • Willing and able to perform/comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    1. Climb up to 50 feet using both inclined and vertical steps/ladders.
    2. Lift up to 45 pounds.
    3. Bend, kneel, knee‑stand and squat up to 30 minutes at a time.
    4. Sit and stand for prolonged periods over 2 hours at a time according to job demands.
    5. Work outside in harsh weather conditions.
    6. Work alone a high percentage of the time.
    7. Travel up to 15% of the time.
    8. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
    9. Work overtime on an as‑needed basis.
    10. Work with chemicals and bases.
    11. Wear personal protective equipment (such as fire‑retardant clothing, steel‑toe shoes, ear and eye protection).
    12. Maintain a clean‑shaven face so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly.
    13. Perform firefighting duties.
    14. Work with hydrocarbons that are under high pressure and heat.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics.
  • Four or more years of relevant industry experience (Midstream, Pipelines or Terminals) or military experience.
  • Four or more years of experience working with any of the following:
    • Electrical power and components
    • Digital and analog circuitry
    • One‑line drawings and schematics
    • Allen‑Bradley PLCs
    • Rosemount Transmitters
    • OMNI flow computer
    • Mechanical and rotating equipment
    • Midstream
