Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a Mechatronic Engineering professional to design, engineer, customize, and commission PLC control systems for natural gas processing facilities. You will troubleshoot GE PLCs and related software, read wiring diagrams, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

We require 3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or a closely related field. Proficiency with P&IDs, NEC, and 4160V systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Experience with P&IDs, electric schematics and technical manuals.
  • Experience with the National Electric Code and 4160V systems and motor controls.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, engineering, customization, and commissioning of PLC control systems for natural gas processing facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain GE PLC systems and related software.
  • Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools to locate and fix issues.
  • Read, understand, and redline wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OQ, and PSM regulations.
  • Operate within established procedures and lockout/tagout safety protocols.
  • Write repair work requests in MAXIMO for maintenance needs.
  • Monitor process conditions to prevent hazards and protect people and environment.

Job description

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Summary of Duties:

Support the design, engineering, customization, and commissioning of Programmable Lobic Controller (PLC) control systems and related systems software for natural gas processing facilities.

Troubleshoot and maintain GE PLC (programmable logic controller) system.

Troubleshoot computer and communication issues on equipment.

Utilize knowledge of instrumentation (transmitters, control valves, meters, etc.).

Monitors and recognizes dangerous and/or emergency conditions within the process and performs procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process/facility in order to protect personnel, community, environment, and equipment.

Recognize malfunction in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems.

Operates and performs activities in accordance with application regulations and procedures.

Utilize proper lockout/tag out operation and safety procedures.

Performs other work duties as required; writes repair work requests for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of the normal operations within MAXIMO (maintenance reporting system).

Read, understand, and red line wiring diagrams and schematics.

Ability to work under DOT, OQ, and PSM regulation.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Education requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering or closely related field.

Experience requirements: 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

Must have experience with each of the following:

Experience of P&IDs, electric schematics and technical manuals and data.

Experience with the National Electric Code.

Experience with the 4160V electric systems and motor controls.
