Overview
Perform simple repair work to clean, check, inspect, repair, maintain, and install station equipment and apparatus.
Responsibilities
GENERAL DUTIES
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices.
- Assist and train other employees in operating procedures as directed by supervision.
- Participate actively in training activities and report to assigned locations for training when required.
- Perform fire fighting and first aid duties as instructed.
- Demonstrate competency in job duties through performance, training, and testing programs.
- Report damaged or defective equipment or conditions promptly.
- Perform duties of lower or higher classifications within capabilities as needed for training or operational reasons.
- Maintain equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Report to any facility as directed for shifts where needed.
- Work responsibly and cooperatively to foster a positive environment.
- Compile information and generate reports, forms, and documents as required.
- Represent the Company professionally in the community.
- Support company policies, procedures, and objectives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Perform simple work to check, inspect, repair, maintain, and install station equipment and apparatus.
- Assist higher classification employees and ensure tools, equipment, and surplus materials are properly managed.
- Clean equipment, handle and move supplies, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform dismantling and assembly work, including bolting and connecting/disconnecting.
- Learn proper use of tools and operate them as directed.
- Prepare work surfaces, remove/install insulation, and maintain equipment.
- Set up portable lighting and blowers as needed.
- Assist in electrical and instrument repair, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in lubricating station equipment.
- Operate vehicles for transportation of personnel, tools, and materials.
- Assist in erecting and removing scaffolding and rigging.
- Support colleagues in completing work assignments.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Meet all general employment qualifications.
- Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking; able to understand instructions.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Willing to learn to use necessary tools and equipment.
- Willing to comply with safety rules.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and pass company vehicle operation tests.
- Willing to work outdoors and indoors under varying weather conditions.
- Be in good health and physically capable of performing manual labor, including working at heights.
- Willing to acquire skills for advancement.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn to read simple drawings and sketches.
- Commitment to completing work assignments and cooperating with others.
- Successfully complete entry-level aptitude testing.
- Meet attendance criteria set by the company.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Learn equipment clearance, safety, and maintenance procedures.
- Possess a two-year college degree or equivalent experience.
Work Conditions
Industrial environment with outdoor exposure, working on ladders, uneven surfaces, and handling dust/debris. Respirator use may be required.
Physical Efforts
Ability to lift 70 lbs daily from the ground to 30 inches, and 50 lbs from waist to chest. Able to climb stairs and ladders unassisted regularly.
