Job summary

Orion Engineered Carbons seeks an Instrumentation and Electronics (I&E) Technician to install, repair, and calibrate process control instrumentation and electrical gear in our chemical plant environment.

The role includes preventive maintenance on pumps, compressors, blowers, and control equipment, plus maintaining tidy work areas and accurate records. Degrees with 2+ years of experience or non-degreed with 5+ years in a chemical plant are considered; SAP knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in industrial electronics or related field preferred; experience may substitute degree.
• For degreed candidates, 2+ years of relevant experience preferred; new grads with internship may be considered.
• For non-degreed candidates, 5+ years as I&E technician in chemical plant/refinery required; military experience counts.

Job description

The Instrumentation and Electronics (I&E) Technician repairs and installs process control instrumentation, electrical equipment, sensors, and electronic devices.

Essential Duties:

• Install, replace, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrically powered equipment and other devices that are used to monitor and control the manufacturing process.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, blowers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform inspection and maintenance checks on control equipment.
• Maintain an organized work area to ensure tools, parts, and materials are stored in a neat and orderly manner to improve efficiency.
• Maintain required documentation and records.

Qualifications:

• An associate degree in industrial electronics or a related field is strongly preferred for this position. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• For degreed candidates, a minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred; new graduates who have completed an internship may be considered.
• For non-degreed candidates, a minimum of five years of experience as an I&E technician in a chemical plant or refinery are required. Experience in the Armed Forces in an equivalent role may count toward this experience requirement.
• The ability to use or quickly learn SAP is a plus.
