I&E Technician
Responsibilities:
- Modify, repair, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls.
- Apply knowledge of electronics principles to diagnose malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
- Install instrumentation and electrical components safely.
- Troubleshoot control systems and complex equipment such as gas receipts, turbines, generators, process plants, dehydration units, control and pump stations, and gas chromatography systems.
- Run conduit, pull wire, replace motors, and maintain lighting systems and basic motor controls.
- Maintain, modify, and troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Maintain advanced monitoring devices including gas, flame, fire detectors, vibration, and temperature sensors.
- Read and interpret P&ID diagrams, electrical diagrams, and other complex electrical drawings.
- Update electrical drawings as needed.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers, and panel boards.
- Perform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment.
- Provide training and technical support to team members.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Graduation from a technical trade school, completion of an apprenticeship, certification, or associate degree in instrumentation or related field preferred.
- Journeyman electrical designation highly preferred.
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, work procedures, blueprints, P&ID diagrams, work permits, and manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and familiarity with AC voltage (120-480V), both three-phase and single-phase, plus 24 VDC.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 5+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in the energy industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity with tools and equipment.
- Basic math skills (percentages, ratios, proportions).
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively under stressful or hazardous conditions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence, persuade, negotiate, and engage with various parties.
- Proactive attitude with initiative-taking.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, less structured environment.
- Capable of working indoors and outdoors around industrial electrical equipment.
- Ability to work in temperature extremes and various physical positions.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools; climb and work at heights; work in confined spaces.
- Ability to react to signals and alarms.
- Physical capacity to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., transporting loads up to 75 lbs., and applying torque.
- Willingness to work overtime and respond to call-outs.
- Must live within 1 hour of the reporting location or be willing to relocate; ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
