I&E Technician I at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company

  • Complete assigned projects including new equipment installations, repairs, and removal of outdated systems.
  • Organize and plan projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and industry standards.
  • Willingness to learn programming skills necessary for implementing new control and instrument installations.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues, research solutions, and generate lists of components needed for repairs or replacements.
  • Document all work accurately and ensure proper record-keeping of testing, calibration, and inspections.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic, punctuality, and dedication to completing all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on plant instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose minor problems promptly and implement corrective actions or repairs.
  • Set up and operate specialized testing and measurement equipment.
  • Conduct functional evaluations on valves, motors, instruments, and process controls.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting 120-volt AC and 24-volt DC control circuits, motors, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with team members and supervision regarding daily assignments, safety issues, and work changes.
  • Remain flexible, make informed decisions, and stay calm under pressure.
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and perform installations and repairs professionally.
  • Care for and maintain testing instruments, tools, and protective equipment.
  • Attend required meetings, safety training, and informational sessions mandated by the company.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely, including pickups, utility vehicles, and lifts.

Qualifications

Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. To qualify, candidates should have:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • A safe driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment tests.
  • Experience in refinery or industry maintenance, or an associate degree in instrumentation, electrical technology, or electronics.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control loops, programming, electrical schematics, and drawings.
  • English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.
  • Visual acuity of 20/40 or better, including color vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to wear PPE and respond to alarms.
  • Understanding of automation system maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of various transmitters, sensors, and temperature instruments.

Additional qualifications include experience in chemical plants, apprenticeships, electrical construction, and certifications such as Journeyman Electrician or MSHA electrical qualifications. Experience with HART Protocol, control valves, PLC/DCS programming, motor drives, and industrial networks is a plus.
