  • Troubleshoot control loops and electrical/instrumentation issues.
  • Read interconnection diagrams, P&IDs, loop sheets, and schematics.
  • Respond to emergencies and restore safe operations.
  • Maintain maintenance, inspection, and calibration records.
  • Work with computer systems to document work and communicate data.

The I & E Technician works closely with operations and maintenance personnel to maintain the integrity and performance of facility equipment.

Job Summary

The I & E Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and electrical systems that support safe and reliable plant operations. This position ensures that process control equipment, instrumentation, and electrical systems are operating properly to support production, safety, and regulatory compliance. The I & E Technician works closely with operations and maintenance personnel to maintain the integrity and performance of facility equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, calibrate, and maintain transmitters, instruments, control valves, actuators, and positioners.
  • Test and record the effects of varying operating conditions, including vibration, temperature, humidity, pressure, differential pressure, liquid flow, level, pH, conductivity, stress, and chemical analysis.
  • Utilize testing and calibration equipment, including pressure and temperature calibrators, HART communicators, and other instrumentation tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, including motors, breakers, drives, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control loops, electrical systems, and instrumentation issues to identify and resolve equipment problems.
  • Test, tune, and calibrate controllers and process control equipment.
  • Read and interpret interconnection diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), loop sheets, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment in classified hazardous locations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform troubleshooting and repair activities to restore safe and efficient operations.
  • Utilize computer systems and workstations to access technical information, maintain records, complete work documentation, and communicate operational information.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and calibration records.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, operating standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability programs.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training in instrumentation, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, chemical processing, or related environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, process control systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Experience installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting transmitters, control valves, analyzers, actuators, and related instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, drives, breakers, and control circuits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC, DCS, and process control systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and electrical installation requirements for classified locations.
  • Proficiency with calibration equipment, testing instruments, computers, and maintenance software systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and complying with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
