Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an instrumentation technician with chemical plant experience to troubleshoot plant instruments and control loops, and to install, calibrate and maintain instrumentation across processes. The role involves configuring Hart instruments, supporting shutdowns, and keeping meticulous PM, calibration, and work-order records.

A high school diploma or equivalent plus relevant certification/degree is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Chemical plant instrumentation/controls experience or Instrumentation Technology Certification/Associates Degree.
• Experience with SAP or other maintenance systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with calibration management systems and DCS/PLC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot plant instruments and control loops.
• Specify, order and install new plant instruments for projects.
• Configure Hart instruments using a Hart communicator.
• Calibrate, install and maintain instrumentation including pH, conductivity, level, flow, temperature and pressure devices.
• Assist with shutdowns and maintenance activities as needed.

Job description

Contract to staff (likely)

$45/hr

What You Will Do:

• Provides expertise for troubleshooting plant instruments and control loops
• Specifies, orders and installs new plant instruments as part of projects
• Configures Hart instruments using a HART communicator
• Calibrates, installs and maintains all types of electronic instrumentation including pH, conductivity, level, flow, temperature and pressure equipment
• Run conduit, pull cable, run pneumatic tubing, along with periodically pulling control valves for repair
• Responsible for Preventative Maintenance, calibration and associated record-keeping of instrumentation
• Work with Maintenance Mechanics to assist in repairs and during large shutdowns
• Ensure proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures are being followed prior to beginning work
• Maintains proper instrument, calibration, PM and work order records
• Maintains instrument and PLC spare parts inventory and keeps maintenance shop organized and clean

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous chemical plant experience in instrumentation/controls OR Instrumentation Technology Certification/Associates Degree

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs
• Must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position which include lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, balancing, walking, standing, talking and hearing
• Must be able to work from man-lifts, scaffolds, mezzanines, and ladders
• Must be able to wear a respirator under certain conditions
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of SAP or another maintenance management system
• Knowledge of calibration management systems
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Previous experience with DCS or PLCs
• Experience with ISO and PSM procedures
• Good communication and time management skills
• Ability to work in a team or independently
