Job summary

Ecovyst, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician for Ecoservices in Hammond, IN.

You will install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems in a chemical plant environment, handling high- and low-voltage equipment, PLC systems, and process instrumentation while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You will read schematics and P&IDs, perform preventative maintenance, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant I&E experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical school certificate or associate degree preferred.
• Strong understanding of process control instrumentation, PLCs, and DCS systems.
• Proficiency in reading schematics, P&IDs, and performing control loop checks.
• Working knowledge of basic chemistry and mechanical systems.
• Moderate computer skills; able to use MS Office and digital documentation tools.
• Physically able to lift heavy equipment, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• Completion of applicable safety and technical training including NFPA-70E and OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical work on motors, switchgear, VFDs, and lighting systems up to 2300 volts.
• Read and interpret schematics and P&IDs from engineering packages.
• Conduct inspections and maintenance in railcar and loading areas.
• Operate manlifts, forklifts, and hand tools; bend and install conduit up to 2".
• Conduct preventive maintenance on instrumentation and small gauge wiring.
• Install and repair control valves and piping components.
• Participate in emergency repairs and unscheduled callouts.

Position Overview

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician for Ecoservices in Hammond, IN is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems in a chemical plant environment. This role includes working with high- and low-voltage equipment, PLC systems, and process instrumentation while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
