The I&E Technician is responsible for completing maintenance work on instrumentation, electrical, and analyzer equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient way at the INEOS Oligomers Chocolate Bayou plant.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Work safely and follow company policies and procedures.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and installation of instrumentation, electrical, and analyzer equipment.
- Read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, and I&E drawings.
- Update supervisors with job status, submit repair reports and documentation to meet ISO standards.
- Collect equipment operation and history data for reliability improvements.
- Maintain equipment records.
- Complete on‑call assignments for overtime and off‑hour work requests.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and incident investigations.
- Ensure test equipment is kept safe and certifications current.
- Participate in work permit procedures and document repairs and calibrations.
- Follow HSE policies, including the INEOS 20 Safety Principles.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma required; 2‑year technical degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience, preferably in petrochemical or refinery environments.
- Strong knowledge of process safety, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, working from heights, hazard communication, incident reporting, and MOC.
- Electrical safe‑work practices up to 13.8 kV, including VFDs, transformers, motors, UPS systems, switchgear, and motor control centers.
- Instrumentation expertise: installation, calibration, troubleshooting of pressure, temperature, flow, and level transducers; familiarity with HART, PLCs (Allen‑Bradley), Emerson Delta V, BPCS/SIS, and safety instrumented systems.
- Experience with process analyzers (gas chromatograph, CEMS) and analyzer database software.
- Proficient reading of P&IDs, schematics, ladder logic diagrams, motor control schematics, and electrical one‑liners.
- Familiarity with industrial codes such as API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA.
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office a plus.
- Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong safety orientation, team builder, analytical, problem‑solving, and self‑motivated.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Regularly lift ≥50 lbs, walk, climb ladders/stairs, bend, reach, push, pull, and operate valves or equipment of various sizes.
- Good visual acuity for detailed inspection, data analysis, and reading of computer terminals and small parts.
- Normal hearing sufficient to receive oral instructions and discriminate sounds.
- Work may involve exposure to environmental conditions typical of a petrochemical plant.
