Air Liquide provides industrial gas and energy solutions vital to industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S., supplying primarily oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are monitored 24/7 from our operations control center in Houston, Texas.
Position: I&E Maintenance Technician
Location: Geismar, LA
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
Responsibilities
- Calibrate and maintain instrumentation on production plants, gas delivery systems, and liquid bulk systems.
- Maintain and repair PLCs, computer equipment, single-loop controllers, and operator interfaces.
- Repair instrumentation identified in work requests in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and tune P&ID control loops.
- Calibrate and maintain plant instrumentation (transmitters, valves, switches).
- Complete preventive maintenance (PM) as required in the CMMS.
- Document work performed in the CMMS and log instrumentation and controls activities in operations log books.
- Troubleshoot plant control system issues and assist in solving control system problems.
- Assist with design of instrumentation‑related controls.
- Maintain spare parts inventory for instrumentation and control systems.
- Write standard work orders in the CMMS.
- Maintain test equipment calibration and associated records.
- Maintain all I&E equipment records in both the CMMS and written form.
- Direct and work closely with contractors, monitoring and directing contractor work quality.
- Rack in/out breakers & switchgear as necessary.
- Provide assistance at other Air Liquide plants or customer sites as needed.
- Report pipeline and plant abnormalities to maintenance and plant managers.
- Report safety incidents and near misses to maintenance and plant managers.
- Perform job functions in a manner that meets or exceeds the company’s HSE standards.
- Control costs to achieve budget targets.
- Follow directions from the site operations manager and offer suggestions to improve system and procedure efficiency and quality.
- Be available on call and respond to plant sites within two hours as required when on call, and remain reachable by phone for support when not on duty.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid employment authorization in the U.S. and not requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Minimum 6 years of I&E experience in a plant environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Ability to maintain, repair, and calibrate analyzers, transmitters, control valves, etc.
- Basic understanding of the facility’s control system and the ability to develop a detailed understanding.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation and safety aspects of MCC/switchgear.
- Basic understanding of the facility’s process and the ability to develop a detailed understanding.
- Ability to operate forklift and other machinery.
- Two-year technical degree preferred.
