Job summary

Luminant Generation Company LLC in Texas is seeking an Instrumentation & Control technician to maintain plant instrumentation and control systems in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. The role involves supporting energy generation requirements and collaborating with Operations and other partners.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, plus I&C experience or related work experience, and involves active participation in safety initiatives and potential shift work.

Qualifications

• One year of I&C experience or two years related work experience required.
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform work adhering to safety procedures and best practices.
• Develop and present safety topics.
• Learn to enter WRs and PRs into MAXIMO.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and equipment.
• Assist in design and implementation of O&M and Capital projects.
• Work with other technicians on routine maintenance and compliance activities.
• Cover Unit start-up and shut-down activities with assistance from other Technicians.

Job Summary

To maintain the instrumentation and control systems to meet the specific energy generation requirements of the Luminant system in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Perform work incorporating strict adherence to Safety procedures and best practices and continually observe for safe working practices.
• Regularly develops and presents safety topics.
• Develop an understanding of HPI tools through training opportunities and practice. Actively participate in Pre/Post Job briefs.
• Work with other technicians to perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on the plant instrumentation and control systems including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shift.
• Cover Unit start-up and shut-down activities with assistance from other Technicians.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and equipment.
• Learn to enter WRs and PRs into Maximo.
• Assist in the design and implementation of O&M and Capital projects.
• Learn to communicate LOTO requests to Operations.
• Maintain a good working relationship with Operations, Electrical, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, other support groups and vendors.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

• High School education or GED equivalent required
• One (1) year as I&C or two (2) years related work experience required
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.

Key Metrics

• Provide the technical expertise and skills to effectively troubleshoot low voltage electrical circuits.
• Provide the technical expertise and skills to perform calibrations and maintenance of field instrumentation including transmitters (level, pressure, flow, temperature, etc.), control valves, valve positioners, thermocouples, etc.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of the power plant processes (material handling, water side equipment, air side equipment, emission controls, turbine/generator, etc.)
• Demonstrates specific knowledge and skills to perform job assignment
• Demonstrates continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge
• Demonstrates knowledge of how job assignment impacts other systems/units and uses this knowledge to maximize safety and minimize equipment problems.
• Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of resources required to perform job, such as drawings, instruction books, calibration data sheets, MAXIMO, etc.
• Proficient computer skills
