Job summary

Southern Company in Georgia seeks a Team Leader for Plant Scherer operations and maintenance. You will lead a technician team, drive safety culture, manage maintenance strategies, and coordinate contractors to ensure reliable plant performance.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and experience with asset management systems. Expect to work extended hours and travel occasionally to support other sites as needed.

Qualifications

• BS or Associate’s degree preferred.
• Work experience in plant maintenance and operations preferred.
• Experience with asset management (System Ownership) within generating plants or equivalent.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of MAXIMO preferred.
• Working knowledge of CIMs preferred.
• Working knowledge of SafeTK and Lock Out Tag Out preferred.
• Contractor Compliance experience preferred.
• Computer skills to communicate with digital devices.
• Knowledge of AC/DC electrical circuits.
• Knowledge of medium/low voltage distribution systems.
• Understanding of maintenance strategy.
• Strong communication at all levels.
• Proficiency with Windows and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the technician team.
• Lead daily Kick off meetings in person and monthly safety meetings.
• Promote a culture of safety with team and contractors.
• Maintain familiarity with all maintenance activities and issues.
• Perform periodic walk-downs and inspections of daily work.
• Manage employee availability.
• Ensure Environmental, Health and Safety compliance (LOTO, Arc Flash, Confined Space).
• Ensure contractor compliance requirements.
• Lead the team using performance management principles.
• Ensure completion and documentation per ERO guidelines.
• Oversee cyber security tasks for NERC/CIP standards when applicable.
• Develop maintenance procedures and maintenance strategy.
• Provide leadership to other sites as needed.
• Administer workflow in Maximo: prioritize, plan, execute, close out.
• Maintain relationships with vendors/contractors for equipment.
• Collaborate with other departments on new project development.
• Build relationships with customers/external stakeholders.

Team Leader –GPC Plant Scherer

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support for the Plant Scherer operations and maintenance. This position is accountable for safety, environmental and regulatory compliance; team development and technical direction; performance management; managing resources and work priorities; development and maintain maintenance strategy and PMs; Coordination of contracts and contractors; and other related goals as required by the business.

Note: The successful candidate should expect to live within an one-hour drive of Plant Scherer in Juliette, GA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise daily activities of the technician team while fostering a collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork and cooperation.
• Lead daily Kick off meetings in person and monthly safety meetings as needed.
• Promote a culture of safety within the team and with contractors/vendors.
• Maintain familiarity with all maintenance activities within the facilities and keep abreast of ongoing issues.
• Perform periodic walk-downs and visual inspections of daily work being performed by Technicians, as well as provide back-up & support for some tasks in the field from the start to finishing point of housekeeping.
• Manage employee availability
• Manage and provide leadership to ensure the team is compliant in all areas of Environmental, Health and Safety. Examples include but are not limited to: LOTO, Arc Flash, and Confined Space.
• Manage and provide leadership to ensure adherence to contractor compliance requirements.
• Manage a team utilizing the performance management philosophy.
• Ensure completion and documentation of activities to comply with all ERO guidelines.
• Ensure cyber security tasks are completed to comply with NERC/CIP standards when applicable.
• Ensure development of maintenance procedures. Create/optimize maintenance strategy as needed.
• Provide leadership and support as required and potentially of other sites within our organization needing resources.
• Administer workflow process in Maximo. Ensure work orders are prioritized, planned, executed, and closed out.
• Maintain relationships with vendors and contractors for the proper maintenance and operation of onsite process equipment.
• Work with other departments as necessary on all new project development activities.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with customers/external stakeholders.
• Create/review training plans and. Update job assessment training documents as needed for additional assets.
• Work to ensure PM Compliance performance aligns with the goals of the plant.
