Job summary

TAI invites an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join a key engineering team supporting refinery capital projects from concept through startup. You will design, implement, and optimize critical control systems while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and construction teams for safe, efficient project execution.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, field support during construction, and ongoing reliability improvements across instrumentation and controls systems in refinery

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of I&C experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Background in oil/refining, petro-chemicals, or chemicals is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes and design criteria.
  • Prepare and review instrument specifications, datasheets, drawings, and estimates.
  • Support equipment and instrument selection.
  • Develop material and procurement requirements.
  • Coordinate vendor engineering and technical reviews.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and project execution.
  • Develop instrumentation and controls design drawings.
  • Modify drawings using applicable design software.
  • Support troubleshooting, commissioning, startup, and post-project close-out.
  • Provide technical support for existing I&C systems including repairs and upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities to improve instrument reliability and availability and integrate these into projects and maintenance plans.

Here’s a Glimpse Into Your Day To Day
  • Develop project scopes and design criteria
  • Prepare and review instrument specifications, data sheets, drawings, and estimates

  • Develop and produce instrumentation and controls design drawings
  • Must be able to create and modify drawings using applicable design software
  • Support troubleshooting, commissioning, startup, and post-project close‑out while ensuring project deliverables meet refinery standards, applicable codes, process safety requirements, and operational needs.
  • Provide technical support for existing instrumentation and control systems, including equipment troubleshooting, reliability improvements, repairs, modifications, and operational optimization.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve instrument reliability, maintainability, and availability and incorporates these improvements into capital projects and maintenance strategies.
You’ll Be a Perfect Fit If You Have
  • 5-10+ years of relevant I&C experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering Preferred
  • Background in oil/refining, petro‑chem, chemicals, etc. highly preferred
Compensation And Benefits
  • Pay: $125,000-150,000 annually (depending upon experience).
  • Eligible for overtime pay
  • Annual Profit Sharing Bonus (variable)
  • PTO and Paid Holidays
