Job summary

Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education invites applications for a faculty fellowship in Collaborative Hypersonic and Missile Defense Research at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Fellows will work with AFIT faculty on hypersonic vehicle development, CAD geometry configuration, and data-driven validation using ABAQUS, NASTRAN, MATLAB, and CFD tools.

Under mentorship, you will predict vehicle responses, assess stresses and deflections, and contribute to multi-disciplinary optimization

Qualifications

• Current faculty member at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university.
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR).
• Discipline(s) include Chemistry and Materials Sciences; Communications and Graphics Design; Computer, Information, and Data Sciences; Earth and Geosciences; Engineering; Life Health and Medical Sciences; Mathematics and Statistics; Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on learning with AFIT Graduate School of Engineering and Management Faculty in Hypersonic Vehicle development.
• Configure new geometries in CAD and model vehicle responses to aerodynamic, structural, and thermal loading.
• Conduct wind tunnel experiments and document findings for DoD review.
